PostHeaderIcon Virtual Food Drive Trip #1

order1

When Barb and I decided to do a Virtual Food Drive on The Coupon Cupboard, I never dreamed it would turn into something so big and crazy.

My husband was recently laid off and if not for the fact that I am a “couponer”, I think we honestly would have gone hungry. I have not been grocery shopping since before Christmas (not counting the basic Milk and Bread run) and we have been living off my stockpile. It almost pains me to say that we have almost completely wiped it out. SO, the Virtual Food drive really helped me get my but back in gear and go shopping again. Above is a picture of tonight’s grocery order. Yes, this is just 1 trip for me. (Not everything is pictured) At least half of these items will be put in the boxes to take to our local food bank.

My husband is contacting our local news and everything! Yes, I am freaking out! My goal with the entire project is to delivery an entire Pickup bed PACKED FULL of Groceries. Think I can do it?

012909Now onto the even more fun part. I shop at Giant Eagle. We currently have Super Doubles here. If you don’t know what that is, it means that they will double a $1 coupon and give you $2 off (up to the price of the item). Needless to say I seek out all kinds of $1/1 coupons! As you can see from my receipt, tonight I bought 316 items for just $2.35. Yes… I really did! This is actually normal for me. If I save less than 98% I am literally upset with myself :)

How did I get into couponing? When my son was born in 2002, I wanted to stay home with him. This was very important to me. Everything I know is really thanks to my great friend Dawn who pretty much held my hand through the entire learning process! I started out saving small percentages. Every month it would increase a little more and more. Now here I am, almost 7 years later, almost always saving 98% or more on my bills.

Since I have this been given this wonderful gift of learning to shop like this I really wanted to DO something with it. Layoffs in our area from the auto industry are BAD. I want to help others that are going through the same thing we are going through. So, if you will, please cheer me on as I try to reach my goal of filling my husbands truck. I am going to need all of the cheering on that I can get!

If you would like to participate in The Coupon Cupboard Virtual Food Drive, please visit us and join in! We are giving away your choice of a Wii Fit or $50! You don’t have to be a couponer to help out in your local community. hang a sign at work (we made one for you!) and ask people to donate a can or 2. You would be surprised how much you may be able to collect. Even if you help out just 1 family, that is 1 more family that will be a bit happier :) Thanks for hanging out with me for the last few minutes.

Wake up Your Senses with Pillsbury® Grands!® Cinnamon Rolls, Now from the Freezer
Consumers say new sweet rolls taste practically made from scratch

Scent can affect your mood, memory or sense of well-being, and warm, sweet flavors like cinnamon surely stimulate appetites, too. In fact, many people would agree that nothing is more comforting than waking up to the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls. Now, creating that home-baked aroma of sweet rolls just got easier with frozen Pillsbury® Grands!® Cinnamon Rolls made with real Cinnabon® Cinnamon.

Grands! Cinnamon Rolls pair freezer-to-oven convenience with delicious homemade taste. They come in a portion-controlled resealable freezer bag so you can bake up one or two or the whole bag at once. With nothing to add, mix or measure, you simply place the desired number on a cookie sheet, bake for 20 to 25 minutes, top with the enclosed icing and enjoy. Pillsbury also is introducing frozen Grands! Mini Cinnamon Rolls, made with the signature Cinnabon Cinnamon. This variety gives consumers a choice of baking one to 12 mini treats for a deliciously warm after-school or after-work snack. Whether baking a batch of Original for an indulgent breakfast or the Minis for a special treat, Pillsbury’s cinnamon rolls are a big shortcut sure to draw the family by their noses to the kitchen.

These cinnamon rolls were a real hit with consumers in our testing, says the marketing manager for Pillsbury cinnamon rolls at General Mills. People commented on how easy they are to make and added that the taste was just as rich and delicious as a homemade batch. More than three-fourths of those who tried either the Original or Mini Cinnamon Rolls said the products exceeded their expectations for home-baked flavor and aroma.

If you are craving one cinnamon roll for yourself or want to make a batch to share, be sure to have Grands! Cinnamon Rolls made with real Cinnabon cinnamon on hand. Bake them for breakfast, serve as a side for brunch, or try the Minis for a midday break or late night treat — you’ll see how cinnamon rolls quickly help make mealtime and snack time tastier. Grands! Cinnamon Rolls are available nationwide in the frozen dough section of your supermarket. The suggested retail price for both the Original and Mini packages is $3.89.
