Envirosax Reusable Shopping Bags
Why do I love Envirosax Bags? They are lightweight polyester, portable, waterproof, and weights just 1.4oz each. These groovy bags are available individually or as a series of 5 contained within a handy pouch. With reinforced seams, each surprisingly large bag can hold a weight the equivalent of two supermarket plastic bags or 44lbs! I easily carry 2 gallons of milk and other small items in these.
They are a nice size bag measuring 19.5″ x 16.5″. These are big bags! The Graphic Series pouch is a
great way of buying all 5 bags in a series at once. The pouch is small enough to fit into a handbag or the glove compartment of a car. No more excuses for leaving your reusable bags at home!
I can’t tell you how many reviews I have done for Reusable shopping bags but these are by far my favorite. They are sleek, nice looking, sturdy and easy to store. I have gone through so many of the ones you buy at the grocery store that I refuse to purchase them anymore. I would rather pay a few dollars more for ones like these that will hold up, than pay $1 for the ones that after a few weeks are ripping. I used my bags several times a week, 10 or more bags at a time so I am a good tester for these products.
Envirosax also makes Organic bags, kids bags and Custom bags!
In addition to providing me with a set for review, Envirosax has offered an additional set to giveaway to one lucky reader!

The $1 are really a false economy, both environmentally and budget-wise. They don’t decompose as implied, so not good for the ecology. They don’t last long either, so a budget disaster…

These bags are better because store bags probably do not conform to fair trade guidelines.
Hannah on Wed, 14th Oct 2009 11:01 AM
I had no idea that the $1 bags could deteriorate like that! It really makes you think about “environmentally conscious” choices. Also, the Envirosax are better because they are way cuter

The polypropylene bags decompose after exposure to UV light and I keep my bags on the backseat of my car, where they are exposed to sunlight all the time!

These bags have a better tensile strength than the current dollar bags we see everywhere which are made with polypropylene. Of course, I had no idea really what was meant by “tensile strength” I looked it up. It has to do with the stress it can handle before tearing. I can say that although I use any reusable bag I have, I already have torn through four. That stinks. I’d love a bag that can really outlast these and make me feel good about my efforts.
Thanks for the giveaway.

anyone can report most reusable bags get dirty and torn after a few uses. They do not look good after a cycle in the washing machine.

They are more durably and more Fairly (Trade-wise) made than the $1 bags. Plus, in my experience the ones at the store can’t be rolled up and kept neatly in your purse. And your advertising for the store. I’m willing to tell someone where I got a bag, but I don’t like shouting where I shop to the world.

I do not tweet or squeek or blog or clog so this is my entry. I learned that, as with just about everything else in life, quality beats quanity and price everytime. I also learned that the $1 sacks are so popular not just because they are cheap but because people who buy them are trying to go green but do not do their homework in finding out what is genuine green and what is phony boloney advertising hype. It is easy to research on google or at the library.
Michelle on Fri, 16th Oct 2009 1:13 PM
the tensile strength bags aren’t as easily decomposed. it makes sense that “green” bags should be made with materials that decompose.

Enviorsax is much more durable than the value brands in stores. The $1 bags will only last a few times and then the break down and fall apart. The envirosax is really enviormentally safe and does not decompose when exposed uv sun rays.

They are better because they are made to be truly reusable, and will last for a long time. The cheap ones that cost around $1 are likely to fall apart after very few uses. In addition, there is the problem of how and where they are made–most likely in some 3rd world country with very poorly paid labor.
Karen of Sillymonkeez on Mon, 19th Oct 2009 2:44 PM
Envirosax bags are better than $1 reusable tote bags because the cheaper totes do not remain reusable as long and end up being thrown away just like disposable bags.

These bags are both ecofriendly and fashion friendly! They are more durable then the bags that are purchased at your local grocer and last a lot longer. Strong enough to hold the same amount of groceries as 2 plastic bags but very easy to carry. Again you’ll be showing off these stylin bags and find many ways to use them!

Envirosax bags are better than the reusable bags you buy at the grocery store because those bags are made of 100% polypropelene which will degrade in quality over time and re not particularly environmentally friendly.

These bags are better because they are made of polyester and will hold up to repeated use and washing, unlike the $1 bags.
Lisa Taylor on Mon, 26th Oct 2009 10:20 PM
These bags can be kept in direct sunlight while cheap ones can not.
Linda Battershall on Mon, 26th Oct 2009 10:31 PM
These are much more durable and stylish than the store bought bags.
Anne on Mon, 26th Oct 2009 11:41 PM
These bags are better because they are made to last, they are also waterproof, and they fold up nicely!

These are a durable high quality bag that is far superior to the low cost $1 bags that are not really environmentally sound as they fall apart very quickly and end up in the garbage after just a few uses and are becoming part of the problem. A durable solution that can be used long term can replace hundreds if not thousands of bags in even just a short time. Additionally the fact that they are so cheaply made makes one concerned about fair trade and abuses of people who make these items. I am extremely interested in the bags.

Because the store bags are cheaply made and wont last as long

These bags seem way better! I would love grocery bags that are reusable, environmental friendly, and most of all, unlike the bags in the grocery store, GOOD QUALITY.
Brandi on Tue, 27th Oct 2009 8:41 AM
These bags have more tensile strength and can therefore hold a great deal more than the $1 bags you might buy.

3rd tweet of 10/27 and last for this giveaway @MoneyMateKate
This is my first time really getting into a giveaway, but since I started doing massive amounts of Xtreme Couponing grocery shopping via public transportation – most of it to support a small grassroots shelter – I’ve come to value reliability in a reusable bag.
Happi Shopr on Tue, 27th Oct 2009 12:37 PM
They look better and last longer. Envirosax are made of polyester, not polypropyolene like the $1 versions at the store. Polyester has better tensile strength properties making it more durable.
Annmarie W. on Tue, 27th Oct 2009 12:57 PM
I see that “A cheap non-woven polypropylene bag must be made inexpensively. The construction and material of the bag are of poor quality and they have a tendency to give way after loading them with groceries only a handful of times. Ironically, the ‘reusable’ bags themselves end up in the garbage can.”

The less expensive Polypropylene bags will decompose after exposure to UV light and these are stronger and will last much longer.

They are better because they are made of polyester and can be used over and over, wheras the store brand bags cannot. You don’t have to worry about them being harmful to the enviroment.
jill watkins on Tue, 27th Oct 2009 3:22 PM
These bags are better because the $1 bags are going to fall apart and become part of the trash in a certain number of uses. Also they are possible abusing the Fair trade paractices with the cheap labor required to sell them for a dollar!

barbara wright on Tue, 27th Oct 2009 6:13 PM
I read the article but I knew before I read it that the cheap resuable ones don’t last. And I don’t mean by leaving them in the sun for 6 months – I mean that the handles fall off, they rip, and they aren’t strong enough to hold what I need them to hold. The envirosax bags are MUCh better because they are more durable.!

Envirosax bags are better because the cheap bags are poorly made. They don’t last very long because they decompose when exposed to sunlight. Envirosax bags are better too because the cheap bags are made in countries that pay their workers low wages and are unconcerned about the worker’s working conditions.
Kathy Swenson on Tue, 27th Oct 2009 10:36 PM
Envirosax bags are better because they won’t deteriorate from UV light. They are also made under Fair Trade conditions, unlike the cheap $1 bags offered by supermarkets. Also, you are not giving free advertising to any supermarket corporations by using their cheap bags.
