Hop on over to Bunnyville!

I love Easter! Please don’t tell anyone it’s really because I love to steal all of the orange jelly beans from the kids baskets. Shhhh! But seriously, everyone celebrates this holiday for different reasons. Whether you celebrate for religious purposes or just because you love Easter egg hunts, it’s always nice to have something fun to do with the family. If you live within driving distance to Detroit, I have something you won’t want to miss out on! Pack up the car and head to the Detroit Zoo!

This year, it is going to be an “egg-stravaganza” of total family fun at the Detroit Zoo’s 23rd annual Bunnyville event. For 2014, they will have two days of bunny fun. This will be taking place on Friday, April 18th and Saturday, April 19th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be so much for every one to do so you won’t want to miss it! Bunnyville features treats, games, crafts, live entertainment, animal enrichment activities, zookeeper talks and so much more!

The Detroit Zoo is also helping out the Gleaners Community Food Bank. Bunnyville visitors are encouraged to bring a canned or other non-perishable food item to be donated. Each guest, with a food donation, will receive a reduced admission price of $8. This does not include parking. Admission for Detroit Zoological Society Members is of course free, but Members are encouraged to bring food donations as well!

Bunnyville activities will feature a golden egg hunt with great prizes, the Jelly Bean Jamboree, Funny Bunny Games, springtime crafts, whisker painting (sponsored by Children’s Hospital of Michigan) and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny (available for purchase).

The Off Broadway Productions musical “The Bunny Follies” will be performed in the Events Pavilion at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
