When a new year rolls around, one of the first resolutions so many people make is to get healthier during the new year. It’s always hard to find gifts for the tweens and teens because they either want something crazy or their taste is changing each week.  The options are often high-priced electronics and video games that stick kids to the couch. I thought I would go ahead and do it since the boys love their scooters.

I picked up this huge box from UPS and see that it is the Rockboard. I am thinking what the heck could be in it that it is so big and so heavy? When I arrived home I pulled this thing out and was impressed from the start. I had never before come across a scooter that not only had a chain but brakes AND a kick stand. I knew right away this was going to be a serious scooter. It has a lot of different features.

I took it out of the box and it does comes fully assembled! It took me a good 15 minutes to figure out how to get the foot plate to lift up to use it as intended. You can use this as a standard style scooter as well.

The innovative Rockboard Scooter is a hybrid that combines the drive-chain propulsion of a bicycle with the practicality of a kick-scooter and is going to on the top of every tween and teen’s must-have list for the holidays. The Scooter’s patented advanced Rockboard Propulsion Technology™ incorporates a revolutionary power drive chain that will have kids racing down the block and tearing through their neighborhoods with every up-and-down propel. The faster kids rock up and down, the faster it goes!

I looked around locally for these but I could only find one small shop that sold them.

To transform your rockboard to kick scooter, they suggest you stand behind the scooter one hand on the downpipe and the rear of the rockboard in up position. With your other hand, pull out quick-release completely.  The tricky part is you have to lift the plate and roll it at the same time.

To close it, it says to use your right knee to gently push down on rear of Rockboard.  Allow the scooter to roll forward while pushing down. It sounds simple but it was a little more difficult than I would like but eventually Mom got it. It was a hassle the first few times but once you get the knack for it, it’s pretty easy.

The one thing that I like about this scooter is it folds up very nicely. Even the handles are even collapsible. It’s really simple to do as well. Just 2 knobs. Since I live in a small apartment at the moment, this was a fantastic feature for me. I just stick it in the corner and it is out of the way. He can grab it when he wants to go outside and he is set.

If you are thinking that the price is a little steep, I promise you that you are getting what you pay for. This is a well built, heavy duty scooter that is going to last a very long time! The kickstand really saves it getting knocked around like the other kinds.

VERDICT: Other than the initial issues we had getting the foot plate up and down at first, this is a fantastic product!

I always loved the original Alvin and the Chipmunks. It’s a cute cartoon, funny and good for any age. When it first came out a few years ago, I was interested to see if they boys would like it. They remake so many things these days, you never know! Naturally they liked it. We have the rest on DVD so I will have to make sure to get this one to add to the collection when it comes out!

They are at it again! Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked marks the 2011 return of everyone’s favorite Chipmunks – Alvin, Simon and Theodore. Playing around while aboard a cruise ship, the Chipmunks and Chipettes accidentally go overboard and end up marooned in a tropical paradise. They discover their new turf is not as deserted as it seems. The film will be released in theaters nationwide TONIGHT, December 16, 2011.

I don’t usually follow celebrity stuff but a few weeks ago, I oddly found myself watching information on the trial for Dr. Conrad Murray for the killing of Michael Jackson. I’ll admit it didn’t at all interest me until I started watching. For some reason the longer I watched, the more facinated I became with all of the details.

For some reason I then wanted to know a little more about MJ himself. Maybe it was a total coincedence but shortly after I received an email from one of my favorite PR gals asking about a Michael Jackson Documentary DVD that was just released on November 1st, 2011. “Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon on DVD”
