I don’t usually do reviews on websites, but, when I saw GoForIt.com I knew it was something that had to be shared with other parents! I was really excited about this site. Royal (9) does not manage his time well at all. He is easily distracted and implementing things to help him focus and get things done is very important to me. He has a note taped to his desk at school and even one in the front of his folder to remind him of what he needs to do before he comes home.

Most moms would agree the the holidays were a fun and festive time, but, it’s also a time when our regular family routines seem to go right out the window. So to help your family get back on track and start the New Year off right, I have just the solution for you!

I am excited to introduce you to Goal For It, an excellent online resource that provides a variety of free solutions for personal success that are easy to use and can help bring more focus, balance and fulfillment into everyday living. I especially love their simple-to-use Chore Chart, which can help children of all ages learn essential skills in a fun and rewarding way.

This FREE Chore Chart can help teach kids, tweens & teens many important lessons, including:

  • Money Matters; The optional point system teaches children three important lessons for managing money; earning, spending and saving.

The options that are available on these charts is fantastic. Everything from Making the bed to getting in your PJs. I like that there are 4 options available. It’s not just your standard take out the trash and brush your teeth type of chart. There is also an option for younger kids and Tweens/Teens. Since the boys are in both categories, it was really helpful.

The site seems to have a few corks that they need to work out (they said it was my browser so we will see) but all in all it was really fun to get the kid involved in what they think they should be doing and on what days.

EDIT: I just tried visiting the site again and all I am getting is a black screen. If you can get it to work for you, check it out because it is pretty useful!

I was born in New Jersey and one one thing I remember as a kid was every Saturday night my parents, my brothers and I would walk a few blocks to Carvel to get ice cream. These days I like any activity that I can do with the boys that is either pretty cheap or totally free. On the weekends that the boys are at home with me, they love to “camp out”. This consists of my king size mattress (Yea, total blast to move by myself by the way!) on the living room floor. We all grab our pillow and blankets and all 3 of us sleep on it. (Sorry but Mom refuses to sleep on the floor lol) The game is to see who falls asleep first and who can stay up the longest. Spencer always falls asleep first and a few times Royal has beat me at staying up! While camping out,  we watch a lot of movies and it starts right after dinner. We get a few movies from Redbox because they are only $1! I never gave much thought to certain holidays like St Patrick’s Day. Other than Green Beer and Green Milkshakes, I suppose it could be a day to really give some thought to what are YOU lucky for? My dad always said if it wasn’t for bad luck, he would have no luck at all. As an adult I really understand what he meant. I don’t consider myself to be lucky in many areas but what I am lucky for is to have my boys by my side almost 24/7. They are happy, healthy and the best kiddos a mom could ask for! Okay… well… maybe I would make Spencer throw less tantrums and Royal whine less BUT other than that, they are perfect! ;) I also feel VERY lucky to still have my mom and my brothers in my life. I wish my Dad were here but we can’t have it all :)
