Cucina Antica National Pasta MonthWho am I kidding? Being Italian means that EVERY MONTH is National Pasta Month, but for everyone else, this happens in October. You really don’t know what you are missing though. Along with my family, Cucina Antica is celebrating National Pasta Month throughout the month with delicious, authentic Italian recipes. I have tried a lot of sauces in my, years but, Cucina Antica cooking sauces are made with imported Italian San Marzano tomatoes, no artificial preservatives, lower sodium, no added sugar, no added water, gluten-free and no tomato paste. Give me red tomato gravy and I can make just about anything with it. Pumpkin on the other hand, not really something I have worked with before. But, I was determined I was going to figure out something to make with it! I would definitely have to ponder this one for a few more days.

Sauces
 

First we went with the classic delicious route. I know, I know…. it’s not pasta, but who can resist an amazing pizza?? Plus, all of these kids insisted! I was outvoted 5 to 1. We added the Cucina Antica to our home made pizzas. Now tell me, have you every made something that you couldn’t think could get any better? Homemade pizza is one of those things! It’s so flavorful and not too sweet. It went absolutely perfect with all of the delicious meats that the kids added. Pizza made a little better for you? YES PLEASE!

A few days later, and much of that pondering I mentioned, I figured out what I was going to use the Tuscany Pumpkin sauce for. A new spin on an old classic. Normally Baked Ziti it would be, but that night it was Pumpkin Baked Penne! This is nothing fancy or difficult to make. You simply cook your pasta, as directed on your box, mix it with the Tuscany Pumpkin sauce, top it with your favorite cheese and stick it under the broiler until the cheese melts and it gets a little brown. About 5 minutes on high. I did add some parsley on top for a little extra something. Simple right? My kids wouldn’t have touched it if I said what it was. After dinner, I asked what everyone thought. It was thumbs up all the way around….. Then I told them what it was. The response was, “What?! It was?!” Yeppers! Mom got you! Now they want it again lol
