PostHeaderIcon Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid + Giveaway

The power of scent is remarkable. It can have positive effects on your mood, reduce stress, and even help you sleep better. But not all scents are created equal. The fruit, floral and herbal ingredients used to create the scents in Seventh Generation´s new natural dish liquid come from fields, not factories.

  • Seventh Generation dish liquid contains only essential oils and botanical extracts, and delivers real cleaning power. Your tableware will be left fresh and ready to serve your next home cooked meal.
  • With authentic ingredients like lavender from the fields of Drome in the foothills of the Alps, clementines from sunny Calabria and lemons from the soils of Sicily, Seventh Generation natural dish liquid is free of unnecessary synthetic colors or chemically engineered scents.
  • Enter the “Nature Makes Perfect Scents” sweepstakes at seventhgeneration.com/scents and you can have the chance to take a trip for two to visit one of the sourcing sites of Seventh Generation natural dish liquid fragrance ingredients. Visit seventhgeneration.com/scents to learn more about each scent´s origin.

These scents are just amazing. My favorite by far was the Fresh Citrus & Ginger.

PostHeaderIcon Hefty Basics Biodegradable Tableware

Check out the all-new Hefty Basics disposable tableware product line. This line of paper plates are biodegradable in-home composting and free of inks, dyes or coatings.  Hefty  Basics paper plates are stronger than everyday plates at a value price, and provide a great choice for people interested in an environmental option.

I have tried “biodegradable plates” in the past and they just didn’t seem to hold up. When I was contacted to give these puppies a try I was skeptical. I will say that the Hefty ones are the best i have seen SO FAR with a minor problem. I had no problems with the plates until I tried to put something that was wet on it and cut. I am not talking crazy wet. I was just cutting a piece of chicken and the juice was enough to make “paper pieces”  part of the food when cutting. I had no problems as long as I didn’t cut on them. I also wasn’t hacking away at me food so that wasn’t the issue. They are a very sturdy plate which is important to me. When the boys carry their food from the kitchen to the table, I want it to make it to the table! I haven’t seen these in any of our local stores yet but hopefully soon or they are out near you!

In the spirit of environmentalism, Hefty Basics has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation on a quest to plant 10,000 trees, one for every ten new “Like”s on Facebook and they would greatly appreciate your support by spreading the word!

In my packages I also received a note printed on seed paper with soy ink! This note can be planted in soil and watered regularly to grow beautiful wildflowers. I thought this was pretty cool and an awesome way to reuse something!

PostHeaderIcon Seventh Generation vs Optical Brighteners

As a mom, you already do so much to protect your family- buckling seat belts, cooking healthy meals and requiring bike helmets. But did you know that the laundry detergent you may be using could contain little-known chemicals called optical brighteners?

According to scientific research, these can cause allergic reactions, are toxic to small fish and other aquatic life, and can pollute your waterways.

When ultraviolet light hits optical brighteners coating your clothing, the brighteners convert UV rays into visible light to create an optical illusion. This tricks the eye into thinking the clothing is whiter and brighter, and therefore cleaner than it really is.

So how can you avoid these optical brighteners? Seventh Generation makes it easy because their laundry detergents are not only free of optical brighteners, but they’re also non-toxic . In addition, because Seventh Generation liquid laundry detergents are both hypo-allergenic and biodegradable, you can rest easy knowing you made a considerate choice for your family and the environment. Conduct your own experiment to see the difference between your current laundry detergent and Seventh Generation laundry detergent!

When washed in a conventional laundry detergent that contains optical brighteners, clothes appear to glow under a black light. When you use Seventh Generation liquid laundry products, you won’t see the same glow on your clothing.

Take a look at they experiment in the photo below. Taking two identical organic cotton shirts and washed one in a conventional laundry detergent that contains optical brighteners and the other in Seventh Generation laundry detergent which does not use optical brighteners; I think you’ll see similar results!

We hope you might conduct your own test and share the results of this eye-opening experiment for all of your readers to see! We’ll also provide an additional set of Seventh Generation laundry products to give away to one of your readers.

PostHeaderIcon 3M Filtrete Filter Water Pitcher Review

I drink a lot of bottled water and REALLY try to get in my 8 glasses. I have always avoided tap water since I was a kid (yes they had water back then) and I think this was the main reason I never drank as much as I should. I am originally from NJ and to be quite honest the water tasted horrible! I have owned a bunch of filtered pitchers and ended up throwing them all away or giving them away. I recently received a 3M Filtrete Filter Water Pitcher to try out and I was as skeptical as always.

Thanks to its Fast Flow filter, the new Filtrete Filter Water Pitcher filters and fills five times faster than traditional filtered water pitchers. You can reduce sediment and the taste and odor of chlorine from your water in just seconds.

With a 100 gallon filter life, the Filtrete Fast Flow pitcher filter also has 2.5 times the filter life of traditional water pitcher filters. Should you forget when to replace your Filtrete pitcher filter, you have only to look at the three-month filter change indicator on top of the water filter.

The included 3M Filtrete Fast Flow Replacement Water Filter is also used in the 3M Filtrete Water Station. It should be replaced every three months or 100 gallons.

Unlike many water filters, these are recyclable! The Fast Flow filter boasts a unique design that allows it to filter five times faster than traditional water pitcher filters. The filter reduces sediment and the taste and odor of chlorine.

You can register to receive seasonal e-newsletters featuring money-saving offers, filter change reminders, better home living tips and more by signing up on the Filtrete Water Filtration Products website.

What I Loved:

Unlike most other pitchers, this one fills up fast! I an put the water on full blast and it doesn’t over flow on the filter. It Filters and fills five times faster than traditional pitcher filters. My biggest sell on this one, the filter lasts longer! Filtering two and a half times more water than traditional pitcher filters (up to 100 gallons or for approximately three months) It has an indicator that you press when you first start using it, to remind you when it is time to change the filter!

You can also follow Filtrete Water Filtration Products on Twitter @FiltreteWater or like the brand on Facebook for healthier living tips.
