It is hard to believe that school is almost back in session. I heard that a few schools have already started! That is just crazy! What even happened to school starting the Monday after Labor Day? That is always how it was when I was a kid. Maybe that was a Jersey thing?

Spencer is starting Kindergarten this year and Royal will be in 5th grade. I can’t believe it. Where have the years gone? Whether you have one starting school or continuing on to the next grade, SilverDolphin has a great selection of books for all ages. I am big fan of SilverDolphin and we own many or their books!

It is no secret around here that Spencer is a complete Dinosaur fanatic. Silver Dolphin has a amazing selection of Dinosaur books and, we own most of them.  The newest one we got is Sounds of the Wild: Dinosaurs. Spencer thinks the sounds are really funny but loves to mimic them.

PostHeaderIcon Silver Dolphin Books: The Field Guide to Dinosaurs (Giveaway)

Helllllo fellow Dinosaur fanatics! I have come across one of THEE coolest Dinosaur books. We have no joke over 25 books ranging from simple toddler stories to more complex ones. The Field Guide to Dinosaurs by  Nancy Honovich is one that your little T-Rex’s are going to adore! Let them dig deep and uncover the secrets of dinosaurs! Junior paleontologists can explore North America’s dinosaur past in this captivating, journal-style notebook, filled with color illustrations, maps, and eight build-it-yourself dinosaurs and a 3-D diorama.

“The Petrified Forest of Arizona seemed like the perfect place to start to search for fossils,” writes our hero in his 1929 journal. Thus begins the exciting hunt for dinosaurs and their prehistoric secrets in The Field Guide to Dinosaurs. Through a series of journal entries, kids will uncover the mysteries of the dinosaur kingdom—from the speedy and agile Coelophysis to the existence of Pangaea, the landmass of the earth some 227 million years ago when all of the continents were one. Junior paleontologists can experience the excitement of a dig as they rifle through maps, illustrations, and build eight dinosaur models and a museum-ready diorama. Dino-crazy kids ages 8 and up will dig this lively adventure!

You can see in the photo’s below that Spencer was just crazy about this. Now he IS only 4 but Royal (9) and I read to him. There are a few features about this book that I truly enjoyed.
  1. Each of the 8 Dinosaurs features a model that you can put together. On one side it features there produced look and on the other their skeletal view.
  2. It gives you a great step by step picture of how to put the models together. (picture #4)
  3. The story is set up in journal style which makes it very fun to read. The details are amazing.
  4. There is a 3-D diorama so you can display your models. (picture #6)
