I am not much of a breakfast eater, except French Toast. I know that is a bad thing but, I just can’t eat at 6:30 in the morning. The kids however, can eat allllllll daaaaay long. Finding things to make in big batches can be a Pinterest scavenger hunt. Pancakes take forever for 6 people and I am not really a pancake fan. French toast, on the other hand, I can eat until I explode.
In an effort to fry less food, and still make it delicious, I have turned to baking a lot of things. I also look for new ways to trick the kids into thinking they are eating more when in fact, they are eating a normal sized portion. I made regular french toast awhile back. The older boys ate 8 slices and the younger boys ate 6. That is a little much in my book. I can barely eat 4.
Since the baked whole pieces worked so well, I decided to make French Toast Sticks for a little trickery. The only thing that I am changing about the recipe is the bread. I used regular white bread, and this is fine but, several pieces fell apart. I recommend using Texas Toast bread. It will hold up much better when you have to flip them over. read the rest of this entry »
