Some days I just want to stay in bed curled up under my blankie. Unfortunately, I have a family that likes to eat and have clean clothes. I always wondered how this became Mom’s job. I understand that back in the day, the men worked and the women did home stuff. Now that women work too, how is it we still do everything else? Food for thought.
I really don’t recall how it happened but, it happened. In August I started canning our garden. I began with pickles because we had an over abundance of cucumbers. After canning over 50 jars of pickles and eating a cucumber everyday for 2 months, I went out and pulled the vines. I had officially been cucumbered out. I learned a valuable lesson for this year. I really don’t need 3 cucumber plants. I am going with only 2 this year. We have so many and there are still 12 jars in my pantry.
After the pickle craze, I decided to go to out local orchard and pick a few bushels of apples. The kids had so much fun doing this but, we will definitely go on a warmer day this year. Everyone wanted apple sauce, which I am not a huge fan of. 25 pints later, it was a hit! It was so good that I had to bring all of my supplies 500 miles to my Mom’s to make her some, per her demand.. ahem… request. read the rest of this entry »

I hope you like this one!
Dinner is always a big theatrical event in our home. I always go over board. I decide at the last minute to make something from scratch. I suppose that isn’t a bad thing but it definitly makes for some hair pulling nights. Some nights, there are six kids here between the ages of 13 and 4. It can be quite interesting. I hope that I get better at planning ahead. Organization is not my strong suit but I do try.
Yesterday it was ribs for dinner. Hell yea I said ribs! I think it is just terrible if you donot love ribs and BBQ sauce ;). In my opinion, the bbq sauce is what makes or breaks a good batch of ribs. I scouted out Pinterest for a recipe. I was so overwhelmed with how many there were. I also needed one that would fit with what I had on hand. After looking atm what felt like, 100 recipes, I put together this one. I was pleased with it for the most part. I thought I could taste a little too much ketchup flavor but, I have also been sick. Everyone else said it was really good. However, you know kids and significant others lie to spare your feelings so, you be the judge!
It take 10 minutes to put together and an hour to simmer. Don’t be like me, plan ahead! This recipe makes enough to store for later, if you have canning jars on hand. I will also suggest that you use brand products. I say this because you just seem to get a much better flavor. I listed what I used but of course, use what you have! Also, this is not a sponsored post.
