It is no secret to many that I am a horrible sleeper and I love my food, having a garden has helped. Almost 7 years ago, I became a single Mom. I was okay with it. It was a new journey that I was happy to take. Why? I was a very depressed person. Not happy with my life and I had gained a lot of weight. I was over 250 lbs when this chapter began. Over the course of the years, I managed to lose 50 pounds. This was a big accomplishment for me because I didn’t think I could do it. Stress is an amazing weight loss tool. Not that I recommend doing it that way. Over time I gained a few pounds back.

Currently I have hit that weight loss wall. I will be 40 next year and I know it gets harder to lose it as we women get older. I got to the point where I just ignored it. Out of sight out of mind, right? That just wasn’t working for me.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I recently started Thrive. I am currently on Day 5 and feeling great. I haven’t gone back to bed in 5 days and I am excited to see where this takes me. With the balance of sleeping and moving twice as much during the day, I am hopeful. Wish me luck!

With all of my new-found energy, I started to focus on my garden. I am determined to have an amazing crop this year. Last year we had a lot of cucumbers but nothing else really seemed to thrive. (See what I did there? Completely unintentional lol) So, I decided that I wanted to do raised beds. The ground moles got under the garden and ripped my root vegetables to shreds. I pulled up my radishes with such joy, only to find them chomped on. Very disappointing.
