PostHeaderIcon May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month

May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month and Mabel’s Labels has launched their newly re-designed Allergy Alert Labels. These labels are a must-have to help make sure that your family is eating safely. Allergy Alerts are durable, waterproof labels that specify allergies on items such as lunch boxes, water bottles, travel gear and much more!  These personalized kids allergy labels help make sure that your family is eating safely. Be sure to promote these newly re-designed labels on your site today!

I have always been a HUGE fan of these labels. I was first introduced to them when Royal was 6 (he is almost 11 now!) and I have never been disappointed. Every time I talk about Mabel’s Labels, I feel the need to mention that my sons baseball glove from first grade, now used by his brother, STILL has his name label on it. After years of use, abuse and sweat. You will LOVE this product.

PostHeaderIcon Make Backyard Ocean your summer pool choice!

Summer is here! What’s a better way to cool off on those hot summer days then to take a dip in the pool? There are many reasons why you might not want to get involved in the hassles of having an installed pool. It takes a lot of time and money to get started, plus, some people just have no idea how to care for one.

When Royal was 3, we didn’t really have the space in our yard to get a “real” pool, so we bought him one of those “blow up ring” pools. I am sure you have seen them in people’s yards all over the place. They come in many different sizes to accommodate most ages. For $300, it worked really great for us for a few years. That is until he popped a hole in the ring. Patching it really didn’t go very well. I swore I would never own another one.

Backyard Ocean contacted me about reviewing the same “type” of pool. After my previous experience, I was a bit hesitant. I went online and started researching them. These types of pools are definitely one where the brand name matters. The cheaper ones have a very thin blue ring and they leak very easy. The biggest problem we had with this pool was getting it level. It took us a few times of filling it about a foot high to make sure it was right. Once we had it set, the kids had a blast in it!

PostHeaderIcon Hanging out in The Outer Banks

I am currently in North Carolina having a blast at The Outer Banks, (aka OBX). John and I came down for a mini vacation to drop his daughter off to her aunt. The weather has been so beautiful! Being from New Jersey, originally, I really miss the ocean. We have had so much fun. There are so many little shops around here which I think are so fun to go in. You never know what kind of stuff you are going to find! The amount of shops that sell summer swimwear and trinkets is crazy! John and I decided that we are going to collect things from every place that we go together. Most people do this, so right off the bat, I knew I didn’t want anything like shot glasses or spoons. Since we are a little weird and silly, we decided to just get something odd or different from each place. No specific theme! I thought that could get pretty fun as we travel around.

One of the shops we stopped in had your expected shirts and swimsuits. We saw some kids ones that were $80. I wouldn’t even pay $80 for a swimsuit for myself, let alone for my child. While we were walking on the beach today, some of the things the kids were wearing was ridiculous. There is no way in hell I would let my daughter walk around in some of these bikini’s. I mean to each there own and all but personally, it’s way to much. I often look and wonder what people are thinking when they are thinking up children’s fashion ideas these days. ANYWAY! I am sad to come home but that is where my boys are so I wouldn’t be anywhere else. It would have been amazing for them to come with us but I am sure they are having a great time with their Dad. I guess it just means that I have to come back again… Darn ;)
