I was always a relatively skinny girl. When I was 23, I lost a lot of weight and got down to a size 12. For my body style, this was perfect. Like a lot of women, this went down hill when I got pregnant. It must be something about losing weight that makes you fertile? I got pregnant before I could even take the tags off my new wardrobe.

In 2002, after the birth of my first son, I had postpartum depression for many years but it had never been diagnosed and treated. I was always depressed and did nothing but eat. I had not interest in really doing anything but sleeping and eating. Once again, I turned it around and lost a lot of weight and, in 2006, I became pregnant before I could remove the tags from my newly hung clothing. Spencer was 10 lbs 11 oz and 23.25″ and gave me 40 lbs of weight. In 2008 my Dad passed away, in 2009, my grandmother passed away, in 2010 I left my marriage, in 2011 my grandfather passed away, and in 2012 my boyfriend passed away. Now I am happy to say that I was able to get through 2013 with no deaths. You can imagine the eating therapy I went through.

I am very proud to say that to date, I have lost 42 pounds. I am Italian so there is no such thing as a diet plan. I became more aware of what I was eating and how much of it. I still eat a candy bar and a doughnut when I want one but, everything in moderation. In the past 6 months, I have been stuck at my current weight. I chalk that up to the weather. I am not about to go walking when it’s -40 outside.

#FitTeaDetox - DelightfulChaos.com

I have heard a bunch of my friends talking lately about doing a “Detox”. I gather there are several ways to go about this but, if you are going to do it, why not choose a natural way? FitTea is an all-natural way to detox. It gives you energy, boosts your metabolism, aids in digestive health and boosts fat-loss naturally in problem areas. You can build a rock-solid immune system with FitTea! It super charges and boosts your overall immune system and gives you more energy. Yes I know I already said that but, can’t we all use that? I wish I had half of the energy that my kids do. Are we getting old?

PostHeaderIcon Where our journeys take us

Over the past 10 years I have really been all over the grid with my weight. I was always successful in losing when I wanted to but whenever I would get where I wanted to be, I would end up pregnant. Now I love my sons with every inch of myself (even the inches they gave me that I didn’t want) but it was getting to be to much work. Now that my youngest is 3, there comes a time when you can’t scream “BABY WEIGHT!” anymore.  I am done having children ( I think?) so I knew it was time to get moving. In February I made a choice to change me life in a huge way and shortly after that I decided that it was time for more big changes.

For many years I had my weight put down by the one person who was supposed to love me unconditionally. It didn’t matter that I had moved 500 miles away from all my friends and family and was depressed,  “battled” 2 pregnancies (9 lbs and 10lbs 11oz!), the death of a parent, death of a grandparent, a surgery, and some other wonderful life things.  I know that I played a hand in the weight gain as well but any woman (and caring man) know,  those were all major things to happen in ones life.

I have made many conscious decisions to change the eating habits of the boys and I. I love food, I was not willing to eat cardboard to be skinny so I made changes where we did not notice them but they made a difference in the calories we consumed in the foods we ate everyday. Simple things like switching  to 1% milk as we drink A LOT of milk, light pancake syrup, frozen yogurt and sherbet instead of ice cream etc. The changes for us were big but small in we didn’t notice the change.

I am happy to say that I am now 20 lbs lighter and have reached my first 2 goals. Like everyone else I wanted immediate results and the first step is to realize it takes time. I still have a little bit to go but I am confident that I will reach that. Some plans for November that I am really looking forward to will mark the time frame to complete my next goal. That goal is to be done losing.

I would love to hear any advice on food, working out etc that has worked for you! With school right around the corner, please share your outdoor activities that can include a 3 year old. If I can do this, anyone can! I also had much inspiration from my dear friend Alan’s journey.

PostHeaderIcon Fat Burnin’ Friday – A Day Late

With so many things going on lately, I am doing really bad at getting my stuff posted. I take pictures of all of this great stuff with my cell phone then forget by the time I get home to post it lol

I bought a gym membership in 2005 and it is about to expire in March. I decided I better start getting the most out of my $25 a month while I am still paying it. My goal right now is to go at least 4 days a week for 2-3 hours. I am happy to report that I am doing too with that! I was unable to go yesterday because we are having a snow storm. I was going to go this morning BUT, it’s still snowing *sigh* I love the snow but not when it messes up my plans lol So, I am going to try for tomorrow morning and take my 6 year old along. (They have a “kid” gym where he can play and “workout”.)

When I first started my weight loss mission on January 1st, I was a wonderful 215 lbs. I am happy to report that just 10 days later I have lost 10lbs!  I have not even taken ridiculously dramatic steps to my daily life to do this! I have, as I said, started going back to the gym (easy things like walking on the treadmill and biking for now). I am drinking more water, using a smaller plate at dinner and only eating until I am full and not stuffed etc. I bought (for about $2 at Meijers) a “Sports Bottle” for that holds my “8 – 8 oz glasses of water” that you are supposed to intake daily. I do drink more than this but not for any specific reason. I just know it’s better than grabbing a pop!

I would love to hear about your goals and how it’s going for you! Leave me a comment and tell me how things are going for you!
